Realizou-se no passado dia 1 de maio a 8.ª edição da International Golf Cup, onde 34 jogadores em representação de Portugal defrontaram, em formato Matchplay Four Ball Better Ball, outros tantos jogadores da equipa internacional.
Este ano, a equipa internacional contou com uma representação verdadeiramente global, incluindo jogadores de Inglaterra, Irlanda, Escócia, Chile, Itália, Suécia, Noruega, Estados Unidos, África do Sul, Nepal e Índia, entre outros.
Um grupo diverso e entusiasta, liderado pelo capitão Jimmy Lawlor, que tem sido uma figura central na dinamização desta competição e na promoção do espírito desportivo entre os participantes estrangeiros residentes em Portugal.
O torneio volta a afirmar-se como um momento alto do calendário do clube, reunindo não só membros da Beloura, mas também jogadores de outros clubes e campos, que fazem questão de se juntar a este ambiente de convivência, amizade e competição saudável.
Após os jogos, os 68 participantes reuniram-se no restaurante do clube para um momento de confraternização, enquanto se aguardavam os resultados finais.
Apesar do resultado final indicar uma vitória expressiva da equipa portuguesa por 26–8, a esmagadora maioria dos confrontos foi extremamente equilibrada, com apenas três matches a terminarem antes dos últimos quatro buracos — prova da competitividade e do espírito combativo em campo.
A pontuação foi atribuída da seguinte forma: 2 pontos por vitória, 1 ponto por empate e 0 pontos por derrota.
Agradecemos a todos os participantes pelo entusiasmo e desportivismo demonstrado. Eventos como este são o reflexo da diversidade e união que o golfe proporciona, e continuaremos a trabalhar para que esta competição continue a crescer e a reunir jogadores de todo o mundo.
On May 1st, we held the 8th edition of the International Golf Cup, where 34 players representing Portugal faced an equal number of players from the International Team in a Four Ball Better Ball Matchplay format.
This year, the international team showcased a truly global lineup, featuring players from England, Ireland, Scotland, Chile, Italy, Sweden, Norway, the United States, South Africa, Nepal, and India, among others.
The team was captained by Jimmy Lawlor, a key figure who has been instrumental in promoting this competition and encouraging camaraderie among the international players residing in Portugal.
The event once again proved to be a highlight in the club’s calendar, bringing together not only Beloura members but also players from other clubs and courses, all eager to take part in this special blend of friendly competition and social gathering.
After the matches, the 68 participants gathered at the club restaurant to socialize and enjoy the atmosphere while waiting for the final results.
Despite the final score showing a significant win for the Portuguese team at 26–8, the vast majority of the matches were tightly contested, with only three matches ending with more than four holes to spare — a testament to the competitive spirit and balance witnessed throughout the day.
Scoring was as follows: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss.
